Cookies

Well today I made yet another attempt at baking. Every year I think it will be different, and every year, my cookies turn out terrible. I guess they taste ok, but they sure aren't pretty! I am no Martha Stewart, that's for sure! I will take the cookies to work and give them to my clients---or there are some homeless people in the neighborhood who will love them, I'm sure.
Today my friend came over and I gave her my old Sears Kenmore sewing machine that I got from Jerry while I was in high school. She is a single mom of twin girls, and just got her job cut to half time. She has no money for Christmas this year. One of the twins wants to be a fashion designer. She is only 9 years old but wants to learn to sew in the worst way. It felt really good to play Santa. I loaded her up with thread, bobbins and fabric to get the ball rolling. I am so excited that the old machine will be put to good use. I may even give her some sewing lessons while I'm at it! I have kind of adopted the girls since my nieces live so far away. Besides, its rather lonely this time of year without family nearby.
I finished up shopping, and some very important last details. My mantle is all decorated with old fashioned looking snowmen, and white lights. It looks so pretty! And Bubba brought home a potted cedar tree (about 3 feet tall) that we decorated. SO WE ARE READY! Bring it on!!!!!

Family

Family is very important to me. They are who love you no matter what. Family is there for you in every situation, whenever you need them. Sisters matter. Sisters are like part of your soul, your spirit, your psyche. Brothers are there to stand up for you when others tear you down. Parents love you no matter how ugly you may act, how silly you behave, or how down in the dumps you become.
Family lifts you up. Family sticks together. Family means love.
